Information
This training introduces learners with the opportunity to practise and demonstrate emergency response skills that are not possible to practise during drills, exercises and emergency training offshore.
This training is open to learners who hold a valid OPITO-approved BOSIET (with CAEBS), BOSIET (with EBS), T-BOSIET, FOET (with CAEBS), FOET (with EBS), or T-FOET certificate. Proof of a valid certificate may be required prior to course enrolment.
This training includes physical activities, and learners must be medically fit to participate. Learners must hold a valid offshore or employer-approved medical, a recognised fitness-to-work-at-sea or diving medical, and/or complete an OPITO medical screening form at SEQU. Learners are responsible for declaring any medical conditions that may affect their participation.
The objectives of the T-FOET are that learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment and follow procedures in preparing for and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
- Demonstrate that they can use basic firefighting equipment effectively, and use self-rescue techniques in low visibility and completely obscured visibility situations e.g. smoke-filled areas.
- Demonstrate that they can perform basic first aid.
