Tropical FOET with Shallow Water CAEBS

This training is designed for personnel working in the offshore oil and gas industry in tropical environments who are required to refresh their offshore emergency response skills and deploy a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS) during helicopter travel. It is suitable for personnel travelling offshore by helicopter who are issued with a CAEBS and must meet OPITO further offshore emergency training requirements.

Duration: 1 day

Tropical FOET with Shallow Water CAEBS Training

Training
Information

Tropical FOET with Shallow Water CA EBS combines further offshore emergency response training with additional practical training on the deployment and use of a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System in shallow water scenarios.

The training allows learners to practise critical emergency response skills in a controlled, simulated environment, including helicopter ditching and underwater escape, self rescue techniques, firefighting, basic first aid, and correct CA EBS usage during helicopter emergencies.

Learners must hold a valid OPITO approved certificate in one of the following:

  • BOSIET with CAEBS or EBS
  • T-BOSIET
  • FOET with CAEBS or EBS
  • T-FOET
  • T-HUET
  • HUET with EBS or industry agreed equivalent

Proof of a valid certificate may be required prior to course enrolment.

This training includes physical activities, and learners must be medically fit to participate. Learners must hold a valid offshore or employer-approved medical, a recognised fitness-to-work-at-sea or diving medical, and/or complete an OPITO medical screening form at SEQU. Learners are responsible for declaring any medical conditions that may affect their participation.

The objectives of the T-FOET (with CAEBS) Training are that learners will be able to:

Illustration of Tropical FOET with Shallow Water CAEBS training
  • Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment and follow procedures in preparing for and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
  • Demonstrate that they can use basic firefighting equipment effectively, and use self-rescue techniques in low visibility and completely obscured visibility situations e.g. smoke-filled areas.
  • Demonstrate that they can perform basic first aid.
  • Ensure learners are familiar with the use of the Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS).
  • Ensure that learners understand their basic emergency response actions during a helicopter emergency using the CAEBS.
