Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (T-BOSIET) Digital Delivery (Tropical)

This Training is to meet the initial offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who choose to complete the underpinning knowledge of the T-BOSIET programme via the T-BOSIET online programme prior to attending an OPITO approved training centre to be formally assessed against all learning outcomes.

T-BOSIET Digital Delivery Training - tropical basic offshore safety induction

Training
Information

This Training introduces learners to the specific safety issues and regimes relevant to offshore installations, and to equip them with the basic emergency response knowledge and skills for travelling to and from offshore installations by helicopter in a tropical environment.

This training follows a digital + practical delivery format. Learners must complete the online digital theory and assessment before attending the on-site practical training and formal assessment at SEQU.

Learners must complete the T-BOSIET online programme before attending training and formal assessment at SEQU, an OPITO-approved training centre.

This training includes physical activities, and learners must be medically fit to participate. Learners must hold a valid offshore or employer-approved medical, a recognised fitness-to-work-at-sea or diving medical, and/or complete an OPITO medical screening form at SEQU. Learners are responsible for declaring any medical conditions that may affect their participation.

Please note: If the expiry date on the learners previous certificate is within 3 months prior of the training enrolment date then the date of the new certificate should correspond with the expiry date of the existing/previous certificate unless stated otherwise by the Duty Holder or Asset Owner or Operator.

The objectives of the T-BOSIET Training are that learners will be able to:

Illustration of tropical basic offshore safety induction and emergency training
  • Identify the generic hazards which are specific to offshore oil and gas installations, potential risks associated with those hazards, and how controls are put in place to eliminate or reduce risks.
  • Identify key offshore related safety regulations and explain the basic safety management concepts.
  • Demonstrate, in a simulated environment, that they can use the safety equipment, and follow procedures in preparing for, and during helicopter emergencies – with particular focus on escaping from a helicopter following ditching.
  • Demonstrate sea survival and first aid techniques.
  • Demonstrate that they can effectively use basic firefighting equipment, and practise self-rescue techniques in low visibility situations, including smoke-filled areas.
