This Training is to meet the initial onshore safety and emergency response training for new entrants and all personnel currently travelling and transferring by boat to an offshore installation.

Learners who are in possession of a current BOSIET (with EBS), FOET (with EBS), HUET (with EBS), Tropical BOSIET, Tropical FOET, Tropical HUET, BOSIET (with CAEBS), HUET (with CAEBS) or FOET (with CAEBS) are not required to participate in practical life raft and in-water sea survival exercises.
This training includes physical activities, and learners must be medically fit to participate. Learners must hold a valid offshore or employer-approved medical, a recognised fitness-to-work-at-sea or diving medical, and/or complete an OPITO medical screening form at SEQU. Learners are responsible for declaring any medical conditions that may affect their participation.
Please note: If the expiry date on the learners' previous certificate is within 3 months prior of the training enrolment date, then the date of the new certificate should correspond with the expiry date of the existing/previous certificate unless stated otherwise by the Duty Holder or Asset Owner or Operator.
The objectives of the TSbB Initial Training are that learners will be able to:
- Awareness of the risks to which they are exposed and how they are managed
- An understanding of the essential safety rules with which they must comply and how to act in an emergency
- An increase in their personal commitment to safety
- Effective use of personal safety equipment
- Practice and demonstrate the correct method of boat transfers (simulated boat deck and installation)
