Helideck Emergency Response Team (HERT)- CAAM (NEW)
The Helideck Emergency Response Team (HERT) training is designed to provide offshore emergency responders with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to effectively manage and respond to helideck-related emergencies. This training aligns with the guidelines set forth by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), CAAM CAD 1406, and international best practices including CAP 437.

Information
The training focuses on developing competencies in helicopter fire and rescue operations, casualty handling, and coordination with the Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) during emergency scenarios. It incorporates theoretical learning and hands-on simulation to ensure readiness for real-life emergency situations on offshore helidecks.
This training is intended for offshore personnel assigned to helideck emergency response duties, including but not limited to:
- Designated Helideck Emergency Response Team (HERT) members
- Helideck Assistants (HDAs)
- Helicopter Landing Officers (HLOs)
- Fire and Safety Watch personnel assigned to helideck operations
- Offshore installation crew with secondary emergency response responsibilities
- Aviation Safety personnel on offshore facilities

A valid or current offshore medical, or possess an operator approved medical, and/or undergo medical screening form in SEQU.
The objectives of the HERT Training are that learners will be able to:
- Understand the structure and function of the Helideck Emergency Response Team and their roles during helideck incidents.
- Execute emergency response protocols in accordance with CAAM CAD 1406 and CAP 437 requirements.
- Operate firefighting systems and rescue equipment specific to helideck environments.
- Perform casualty handling, evacuation, and support under high-risk conditions such as helicopter crashes or fuel fires.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate emergency actions with the HLO and other relevant personnel.
- Assess potential helideck emergencies and apply appropriate mitigation and intervention strategies.
- Participate in post-incident reporting, debriefing, and continuous improvement of emergency response procedures.
