This training focuses on developing participants' knowledge of radio communication protocols, meteorological equipment handling, and safety requirements. Incorporating guided and blended learning methods with practical sessions, the syllabus is structured to comply with CAAM standards and equip participants with the skills to support helideck operations effectively.

This training is intended for offshore personnel responsible for helideck radio communication and support, including but not limited to:

  • Designated Helideck Radio Operator (HROs)
  • Individuals supporting helideck operations in the oil and gas industry.
  • Helideck crew members seeking to enhance their knowledge of communication protocols and safety practices.
  • Radio operators involved in coordinating helicopter movements and maintaining compliance with CAAM CAD1406 standards.

A valid or current offshore medical, or possess an operator approved medical, and/or undergo medical screening form in SEQU.

The objectives of the HRO Training are that learners will be able to:

  • Compliance with the regulation per CAAM CAD1406 requirement.
  • Understand the role of helideck radio operators in supporting inspection and operational activities.
  • Gain awareness of radio communication protocols, meteorological equipment usage, and safety requirements for offshore helideck personnel.
  • Understand the inspection and certification process, including roles and responsibilities of radio operators, companies, and inspectors.
  • Apply knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for helideck radio operations and maintenance.
  • Develop effective communication skills to coordinate with inspection teams and ensure safety compliance during helideck operations.
