Information

This training is designed to equip personnel with the knowledge and competencies required to safely manage and supervise helicopter operations on offshore helidecks, in compliance with Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) regulations and international standards such as CAP 437. The training covers critical aspects of helideck operations, including safety management, communication protocols, emergency response, and regulatory compliance. This training integrates theoretical instruction with practical exercises to prepare participants for the operational demands of offshore helicopter landing supervision.

A valid or current offshore medical, or possess an operator approved medical, and/or undergo medical screening form in SEQU.

The objectives of the HLO Training are that learners will be able to:

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of CAAM CAD 1406 requirements and CAP 437 standards related to offshore helideck operations.
  • Perform effective helicopter landing and departure procedures, ensuring operational safety and compliance.
  • Apply hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation techniques relevant to helideck operations.
  • Manage helideck communication systems and coordinate effectively with flight crews and offshore personnel.
  • Execute helideck emergency response and firefighting procedures according to established protocols.
  • Conduct helideck inspections and maintain compliance with operational and safety manuals.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the HLO within the overall helideck safety management system.
